Welcome to Natural Perspective!
I am a nature and landscape photographer based in northern Italy.
For many years I used Velvia slide film but have recently been enjoying the creative freedom offered by digital cameras, combining macro photography and intimate landscapes with broader vistas captured with wide-angle and fisheye lenses.
While I love exploring wilderness locations (recent trips include Namibia, the American Southwest and Iceland) and have a particular fascination for volcanic landscapes, I believe that one of the most important challenges facing photographers is to document their own unique local areas, however naturally photogenic or otherwise these might be. With this in mind, I am currently working on two long-term local projects, one on the Italian Apennine mountains and another on a nearby nature park throughout the seasons. These projects combine conventional landscape and nature photography with a more documentary-style approach that explores the interactions between the natural and developed environments and seeks to capture the uniqueness that lies within seemingly ordinary scenes.
I am an enthusiastic hiker and cyclist and whenever possible enjoy combining photography with these human-based modes of travel, most recently completing two cycling, hiking and photographic tours across the interior of Iceland.
